Integer Rules (Adding, Subtracting, Dividing and Multiplying Integers)

Tutorial (Adding and Subtracting):
When adding or subtracting integers, There are specific rules you must follow in order to get the correct answer.

When adding two signs that are positive, you keep the signs and solve the sentence.
When adding two signs that are different, you keep the sign with the larger value and subtract it from the smaller value. (Reminder: Numbers with a positive value, are the larger value (also if using a number line, the numbers on the right side are the larger value)

When subtracting integers, add it's opposite.

Examples (Adding and Subtracting):

3+3= +6 (or 6)
-4+7= 3

-3-2= +1 (or 1)
6+(-8)= -2

~ Because subtracting integers gives you the same results, just in a positive form, if the smaller value is first in the sentence and the larger value second then the answer will be negative (-), if the larger number is first and the smaller second the answer will be positive.

Your Turn (Adding and Subtracting):
10+6=
-4-3=

-9+8=
7+(-5)=

Tutorial (Multiplying and Dividing):
When multiplying and dividing integers, there are specific rules you must follow to get the correct answer.
When Multiplying, you ignore the integer rules and solve the sentence. Then by following these rules you can get the correct answer.

If the Sentence has a negative (-) and a positive (+) then the answer (=) is negative.
If the sentence has a two Positives (+) or Two negatives (-) the answer (=) will be Positive.

Same goes for Dividing. Ignore the signs, and solve the sentence. Then follow the rules to get the correct answer.

If the Sentence has a negative (-) and a positive (+) then the answer (=) is negative.
If the sentence has a two Positives (+) or Two negatives (-) the answer (=) will be Positive.

Examples (Multiping and Dividing):

12x-5= -60
-7x-4= 28

24\-2= -12
33\3= 11

( / is dividing sign)

Your Turn (Multiplying and Dividing):

-6x9=
-7x-9=

-48\4=
100\4=
