Equations with one fraction

  • Whe solving equation with one fraction you first have to find the LCD witch with one fraction is ushaly the denominators of the fraction. Then to elimanate the fraction divied the LCD by the denominator on both sides( But keep the nominator in the brakets) The last step is to use the distrutive law.

Examples:

1.)
  • H/5=-4 1. Find the LCD witch is 5.

h/5)= 5(-4) 2. To elimanat the fraction divid the LCD (5) by the denominator.

1(H)=5(-4) 3.Then use the distributive law.

H=-20 4.The you solved for H :)

2.)

  • 1/3 (x-1) = 4 1. Find the LCD witch is 3.

3 (1/3) (x-1) =3(4) 2. To elimanat the fraction divid the LCD (5) by the denominator.

1(1) (x-1)=3(4) 3. Then use the distributive law.

1(x-1) =12

x-1 =12 4. collect like terms.

x=12+1 (Add)

x=13 Congrajulations you solved for x!

Practice:
  1. 4= -2/3 (p-2)

2. m+4/3 = 7
3. -14 = 2(H-3)/5
